Transfer Students

There is no limit to the number of courses from Advanced Placement that a Multnomah student can apply to their degree. The amount of credit granted differs depending on the test taken and the score earned.

An articulation agreement is formal documentation between two institutions to facilitate the transfer of credits. Multnomah University has articulation agreements with the following institutions:

• Pacific Bible College
• Portland Bible College
• University of Western States

Please note, this list does not list all schools with credits that can be transferred to Multnomah. Articulation agreements are generally not needed between institutions that are regionally or ABHE accredited.

The CLEP program allows students to earn college credits by taking tests on various subjects. The CLEP test (College Level Examination Program) uses subject tests as a means for students to earn credits toward their degree.

Mt. Hood Community College offers CLEP testing services, which MU students may apply to their credits. If you take a CLEP exam at an off-site location, you will need to use Multnomah University’s code: 4496. Find a testing center.

CLEP Policy
MU students may earn up to 30 semester credit hours through CLEP by achieving the minimum credit-granting score. The following policies apply:

• CLEP exams can be taken at any time. However, students planning to use CLEP exams to fulfill degree requirements are encouraged to do so early in their academic plan.
• CLEP exams do not count toward Multnomah University’s residency requirement.
• Credit will not be granted for any exams that duplicate a course successfully taken at Multnomah University or transferred in from another institution.

Students may take courses at other institutions and transfer the credits to Multnomah.  For students planning to complete an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree (or equivalent) prior to transferring, it is recommended that you follow the advice of the academic advisor at your current college. Multnomah University accepts the AAOT (and equivalent from other states) as satisfying the freshman and sophomore general education requirements.

Credit will be awarded to students who complete the IB examinations at the Higher Level with a score of 5 or better. No credits will be granted for subsidiary exams.

PLEASE NOTE: A total of 30 semester hours can be applied to your degree through the Advanced Placement Program.

Bold credits represent credit awarded in the past.

Students may enroll concurrently at another college with the prior consent of the Registrar. Reach out to the Registrar’s Office for the appropriate Concurrent Studies form, complete the form showing that the class is required for your program, and return it to the Office of the Registrar. Securing consent allows the Registrar to confirm the need for taking the course and to relate possible deadlines for meeting graduation requirements.

Transfer students must complete a minimum of thirty-two semester hours at Multnomah University. They must also complete a minimum of 15 hours in their major at Multnomah University.
